Cor Cantiamo

In their fall concert Vocal Tapestries: Many Colors United in Song, Cor Cantiamo will present choral music representing a wide range of musical expressions. The program repertoire spans centuries, from 19th century composer Brahms to new works commissioned specifically for Cor Cantiamo.

The concert will celebrate the global reach of the choral arts including music from Estonia, the Philippines, England, Ireland, and a rich array of American composers including Timothy C. Takach, William Averitt, and Fahad Siadat.

Since their inception in the spring of 2009, Cor Cantiamo has performed multiple world and US premieres and works directly with composers around the world. Past commission collaborations include new works from Jaakko Mäntyjärvi, James Whitbourn and Timothy C. Takach.

The Joliet Junior College Musica Viva Concert series has provided excellent musical offerings to the college and community for many years, always free-of-charge. Typically held at 3 p.m. Sunday afternoons during the fall and spring semesters at JJC’s Main Campus, the series has featured outstanding national and international guest artists, JJC faculty and JJC alumni. The Musica Viva Concert series is generously supported by the JJC Foundation and members of the JJC community.
