JJC’s Community Band Concert to be Held Dec. 3

The Joliet Junior College Community Band will present its annual Winter Concert on Sunday, December 3, at 3 p.m. in the Joliet Junior College Fine Arts Theatre on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet.  The band is under the direction of Charles Morgan, Music Coordinator and Director of Bands at JJC.  

This concert will offer something for everyone: marches, transcriptions, and original compositions for band.  The first half will include “The American Red Cross” a playful march by Louis Panella; “The Roguish Peasant” an overture by Anton Dvorak; “Nothing Gold Can Stay” by Steven Bryant; and “Give Us This Day” by David Maslanka.

The second half will begin with “The Charlatan” a march  by John Philip Sousa; “Danza No. 2” by Bruce Yurko; “Selections from The Nightmare Before Christmas” by Danny Elfman;, “Holy Night, Silent Night” arranged by Clifton Jameson Jones; and “A Most Wonderful Christmas” arranged by Robert Sheldon.  The concert will conclude with “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson.

Please join the JJC Community Band for this concert of outstanding band repertoire, beautifully performed by some of the area’s finest musicians.  The JJC Community Band is proud to be celebrating over 35 years of musical excellence.  Admission is $5 for adults; $4 for JJC faculty and staff, non-JJC students, and senior citizens; and $2 for JJC students.
